Painting Your Writing {Using Paint Chip Samples in the Classroom}

Hi everyone! I'm late to the party, I was supposed to post my idea yesterday and time just got away from me!

I'm here today to share some ideas for using Paint Chips in your classroom. Now...I haven't actually used them yet, but I've been inspired by several adorable things I've seen on Pinterest.

This anchor chart using paint chips to teach shades of meaning was my main inspiration.

My students have ALWAYS struggled using interesting words in their writing. I might scream if I see the word happy or sad ONE MORE TIME! I thought this would be a good way to get students to start using more "colorful" vocabulary in their writing!

I decided to create a little bulletin board to get students involved in the process of actively using "colorful" words.

I've created a little freebie for you with everything you'll need to create your bulletin board! I would add a word a week to the board (so you don't overwhelm them) and have students brainstorm and sort the words they find in order on the paint chip sample from dull to colorful so students can see the progression of words and their shades of meaning.

You can click the image below to download your free copy!

I hope this bulletin board set helps your students as much as hope it will help mine!!

Here are just a few other adorable ideas I saw on Pinterest!

I just love this colorful banner!

Ummmmm....how cute is this homemade rolodex!?

We'd love to see how you paint chips in your room! So, what do you do?
