Hi Everyone!
I'm Fern from Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas!
I was beyond excited to be invited to join Owl-ways Be Inspired. There are so many blogs out there for the teachers of the very young, it is nice to have one just for us 2nd and 3rd grade teachers! I really hope you have enjoyed all the freebies we've had so far, just for you!
Yep, this is me, my skinnier mini-me!
I love being on the computer, making things for the classroom is such a passion, it is my stress relief from the day to day grind of school. I also love Sonic's Route 44 Diet Coke with Lime. While we were stationed in Dallas we lived in a small town called Anna. Sonic was it, that was all we had when we first moved there. I now live in the heavily populated Fleming Island, Florida and I can walk to over 50 restaurants, yet I still love my Sonic-Route-44-Diet-Coke-with-Lime! {When my husband asks me what I would like to order, I say it really fast like it is all one word, just a little too addicted to caffeine!}
Also by the picture you can see, it's true, I have six dogs! We once had 17 at one time when Queen Lilly had 13 healthy puppies. I could have kept them all if it was possible! Fortunately we found them all homes with my students and the boys and girls at church. We kept five, Calvin, Anna, Bear, Bully and Scotty. They are a constant source of photobombs when I am trying to take pictures for my blog. So I have given up and now have them in many of my posts.

Those were the fur-babies, these are the real babies. Andrew is entering 10th grade and Heather will be attending FSU this fall.
I am beyond excited about her attending FSU, I graduated in 1989 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and more importantly, the husband, Jaret, and I have already purchased our season tickets and donated to the Booster's Club so we can have game day, tailgate parking!!! {We're saving our pennies for an RV....a moving party on wheels!} Yipppeeeeee!
We have moved around a lot with my husband being in the Navy, he is now retired and working the exact same job as a civilian contractor. We love to boat, and we're surrounded by water. Jaret is also a US Coast Guard Captain. He works for Sea Tow, his dream job, a few days a month.
This is one of my favorite pictures, it is from Mommie Dearest Strikes Again, a local blogger. I'm so use to what my husband does that I forget how wonderful it is for people when he shows up and gets them home safely. Especially when they have broken down at night, with no lights, it can be life-threatening.
We were blessed to retire in Clay County where I graduated and where I previously worked. I wanted my children to graduate from Clay County schools for the opportunities it will give them. I am currently a third grade teacher at a wonderful Title I school 5 miles from my new home and was excited to be a Teacher of the Year there. My parents moved here when I was in middle school, but I would have attended the school I teach at if they had moved to Orange Park a few years earlier.
My students think that is pretty neat!
I've known ever since 8th grade that I wanted to be a teacher, a Gifted teacher, because my middle school teacher taught us so much! During my career I have been 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th Bilingual, 6th, K-2nd Gifted, Network Administrator, ETCOM Instruction, Adult Ed. Microsoft Office and ESE Technology Curriculum Specialist. But my real joy, my passion, is blogging and making products to help other teachers. I have shops at TPT, Teachers Notebook, EdWorld Exchange, Teacher Lingo and Teacher's Marketplace if you need anything for back to school!
My freebie, Math Center Game Addition Doubles Concept, has been downloaded over 85,000 times.
